My mission is to spread the word about this wonderful discipline which has existed for over 5,000 years.

Ayurveda is considered by many, to be original lifestyle medicine.  It works alongside modern Western science so you  don't have to choose a side.  Infact, Western medical science and scientific studies are now catching on to the many benefits of Ayurveda.

Where Western medical science has traditionally focused on treatment of illness, Ayurveda looks to the prevention of disease and to the maintenance of health.   Since 95% of chronic illness can be managed through lifestyle practices by adopting a holistic approach to the mind and body, Ayurvedic practices seek to build optimal health thus nipping illness  in the bud before it has the opportunity to flourish.

What you can do is pick and mix elements to suit - building in practices which make you feel better and happier.

Ayurveda is experimental which means giving it a go - whether this means dipping a toe in or diving right in ....

My goal is to provide you with the necessary tools and strategies needed for optimal health and wellbeing.  We do this together by focusing on six key pillars of life.  Nutrition, sleep, movement (yoga), emotional wellbeing and self care.   The Ayurvedic toolkit, and its practices and strategies which include meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques) aim to bring you back into alignment with your natural organic state, making for an all round happier and healthier you.

How Ayurveda Can Help in a Modern World

The modern world is filled with practices that affect us - physically, mentally and spiritually.   From the food we eat, to the work we do, our daily routines and sleep patterns - everything is affected by how we digest and process information.  Ayurvedic practices teach that the more we can  sync with the cycles of nature, the greater the chances for optimal health.

Pick 'n' Mix

You can choose to focus in on all areas or bite sized bits depending on how it fits into your existing schedule and commitments.  The basic idea is trying to adhere to an 80:20 rule which means if you do an activity that may bring you out of balance you don't have to feel guilty about it and you have the knowledge to bring your self back into homeostatis.  So if you fancy a beer or a take-away, have to work late night or something unexpected turns up you can still enjoy the benefits of an Ayurvedic lifestyle.  The thing is, since this lifestyle is experimental you have to suck it and see what works and what doesn't.
